    • Abstract:
In this article the author discusses aspects of the impact education has on economic development and prosperity. He notes that the educational careers of U.S. students are measured in terms of rivalries with peer groups in other countries. This results in competition for finite economic resources which leads to protectionism and world-wide tensions, according to the author. The central focus of the article is the author's contention that the U.S. must expand its educational reach to other countries thus leading to increased economic rewards for all.
