- Abstract: The presents an argument in favor of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) profiling as an effective tool in fighting crime in the U.S. The technique is supported by police forces from around the world and can either augment or supplant conventional fingerprint evidence. It is suggested that the reliability of DNA evidence has the capability to deter crime as it may allay potential criminal behavior. The article also discusses DNA accuracy and the global development of DNA databases.
