Employment Resources and Information

The COVID-19 or ‘coronavirus’ is an unprecedented pandemic impacting several statewide workforce development organizations that provide assistance to job seekers and employers. Currently, there are no in-person services being offered by any of these agencies. The CCPL-librarian curated list of resources below is a comprehensive guide to websites, electronic databases, and service organizations dedicated to providing a pathway to those whose livelihood has been affected by the pandemic.  

SC Works Trident 
SC Works is a statewide organization that assists job seekers and employers by offering career advice, training, and more. Phone assistance and self-guided online resources found here are currently available.  

SC DEW Hub 
The South Carolina Deptartment of Employment & Workforce have launched a page showcasing resources for business owners and employees. Frequently asked questions regarding unemployment eligibility, insurance, and their processes, up-to-date social media postings, as well as places of work that are currently hiring are provided on the site. The site is regularly updated with unemployment information related to COVID-19. 

SC Thrive
A statewide nonprofit offering solutions to South Carolinians in need of resources but facing a multitude of barriers, this agency provides a variety of training and technology to other direct service organizations so they can more effectively help people access these resources. Their focus is on food security, healthcare resources and financial wellness through work supports such as SNAP, Medicaid and tax credits. Mental Health First Aid Training and tax assistance are also provided. They have launched a special page related to resources as a result of COVID-19.

A complete resource provided by the South Carolina Hospital Association for both job seekers and hospital recruiters.

SC State Jobs
State government careers. Apply for specific state employment vacancies or join a pool to be considered for future vacancies.

SC Works
An online tool designed to assist the job seeker find the right job and the employer find the right candidate. Let’s you search for jobs by your zip code, city, county, workforce region, specific metropolitan area or statewide. You may register for job openings and locate labor and wage data for the state.

SC Vocational Rehabilitation Department
An employment agency for people with disabilities.

SCIway
Provides a wealth of quality links to job sites throughout South Carolina that allows you to search by city or county.

Center for educator recruitment, retention, and advancement.

Indeed
Indeed includes all the job listings from major job boards, newspapers, associations, and company career pages, and employers can even post jobs directly to Indeed that may not be available anywhere else. Indeed is a free service to job seekers, where you can upload a resume, create job alert emails, search for jobs, save them and apply to them directly.

LinkedIn
The world's largest professional network with nearly 675+ million users in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. LinkedIn provides a free job search to one of the largest new job databases available online. They also provide tips and advice for resumes.
