Lorna Rainey Author Talk Visits!
This February, author Lorna Rainey will visit several CCPL library locations to discuss her book First in the House. The book explores the remarkable life of her great-grandfather, Joseph Hayne Rainey. Born into slavery in Georgetown, South Carolina, Rainey rose to become the first Black person elected to serve in the United States House of Representatives.
