Area residents can receive free help with their taxes at several CCPL branches through a project coordinated with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, S.C. Thrive and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). For additional tax assistance, you may contact these organizations directly: VITA at 843-769-8173 or 2-1-1, AARP at 1-888-227-7669 or S.C. Thrive at 800-726-8774.

Tax assistance is available at the following CCPL branches:  

Otranto Road Regional Library
S.C. Thrive Free Income Tax Preparation
Thursdays, Feb. 1-April 12 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Receive free income tax preparation and electronic filing assistance from S.C. Thrive volunteers. Assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis. The last person will be accepted for tax preparation assistance at 1:30 p.m.

Hurd/St. Andrews Regional Library
AARP Free Income Tax Preparation
Fridays, Feb. 2-April 13 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Receive free income tax preparation and electronic filing assistance from AARP volunteers. A current picture ID and Social Security card are required, along with the Social Security cards of any dependents. Assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis. The last person will be accepted at 1 p.m. 

Main Library
AARP Free Income Tax Preparation
Mondays, Feb. 5-April 16 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Receive free income tax preparation and electronic filing assistance from AARP volunteers. A current picture ID and Social Security card are required, along with the Social Security cards of any dependents. Assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to seniors. 

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday starting Jan. 23 through April 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Receive free income tax preparation and electronic filing assistance from VITA volunteers. A current picture ID and Social Security card are required, along with the Social Security cards of any dependents. Assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis.

Mount Pleasant Regional Library
Mondays and Fridays Feb. 2-April 13 from 1-5 p.m.
Exception: On Feb. 16 and 19, tax preparers will not be available.
Receive free income tax preparation and electronic filing assistance from AARP volunteers. A current picture ID and Social Security card are required, along with the Social Security cards of any dependents. Assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to seniors. The last person will be accepted at 4 p.m. A signup sheet will be posted on auditorium door starting at 10 a.m.

Saturdays, Jan. 27-April 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Receive free income tax preparation and electronic filing assistance from VITA volunteers. A current picture ID and Social Security card are required, along with the Social Security cards of any dependents. Assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Please note that this will be in the library workroom next to the Holds area instead of the Auditorium.

John's Island Regional Library
Saturdays, Feb. 3-April 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Receive free income tax preparation and electronic filing assistance from AARP volunteers. A current picture ID and Social Security card are required, along with the Social Security cards of any dependents. Assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis. The last person will be accepted at 1 p.m. Assistance in Spanish is available.

Cooper River Memorial Library
Saturdays, Jan. 27-April 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
