The Charleston County Public Library is celebrating Native American Heritage Month throughout the month of November. We’re recognizing the contributions, achievements and sacrifices of Native American people, the first inhabitants of the United States. It's also a time to celebrate their rich and vibrant culture.   

Explore the CCPL collection to learn about history, join us for programs, check out displays and more to celebrate Native Americans. Check out the programming calendar for the latest on all programming throughout the month.  

Begin Native American Heritage Month with a discussion with the Wassamasaw Tribe of Varnertown Indians on their rich Lowcountry heritage and explore contributions from all South Carolina State Recognized Tribes to the region's diverse tapestry. This program is taking place on Saturday, November 8 at the Mt. Pleasant Library from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. for adults and teens.

  • Bone Bead Bracelets (Registration Required) on Saturday, November 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Library

  • Create Fry Bread on Wednesday, November 12 at 3:45 p.m. at Wando Library

  • Emphasizing the Indigenous Experience on Saturday, November 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Wando Library

  • Cherokee Pinch Pots on Saturday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Wando Library

  • Music and Dance with the Edisto Natchez-Kusso Tribe on Saturday, November 15 at 3:00 p.m. at Wando Library

  • Skänoñh Great Law of Peace Center (Virtual) on Wednesday, November 19 at 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Library
