CHARLESTON, S.C. - 'Tis the season to give back to the community. Giving Tuesday was created to encourage generosity through donations and charitable giving. One nonprofit that would appreciate your support is the Charleston Friends of the Library.

The Charleston Friends of the Library has contributed to and advocated for the Charleston County Public Library for more than 30 years. Its mission is to ensure Charleston County has one of the best library systems in the country by providing quality, free programs to the community. This includes funding STEM activities for kids, technology classes, visits from renowned authors, and much more. To give a donation to the Charleston Friends of the Library today, click here

Another way you can support the Friends on Giving Tuesday this year is by eating dinner at Zaxby's. On December 1st from 5-8 PM, 10% of sales from three local Zaxby's locations will be donated to the Charleston Friends of the Library.

Participating restaurants include:

You can get involved with the Charleston Friends of the Library in many other ways. Participate in fundraising book sales by donating gently used books to the Main Library (68 Calhoun Street, Charleston). Donated books are then sold by the Friends and the proceeds are given to the Charleston County Public Library. You can also shop at these book sales to find great bargains for your home collection. The next Pop-Up Book Sale is December 11-12 at the Wando Mt. Pleasant branch (1400 Carolina Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant). The Book Sale runs from 9 AM- 4:30 PM each day with the first hour dedicated to senior (age 65+) shopping. This two-day sale will feature bargain prices on fiction, nonfiction, children's books, CDs, DVDs, and more.  Members of the Charleston Friends of the Library can shop the sale one day early. To access the sale early, become a member here

Volunteers are needed during the book sales to help with set up, sorting, checkout, and tear down. If you are interested in volunteering with the Friends, click here.
