Employment app offers quick gigs for seasoned workers
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Are you a job seeker with proven expertise or talent? Are you looking to supplement your income with local work that fits with your availability and expertise? Are you a business owner facing reduced capacity and closure due to labor shortages with a need to get more help for your business? Are you seeing an upsurge in business at your restaurant and need an extra set of hands? Whether you are an industry veteran or someone just looking to make some extra cash within an area in which you are highly skilled, you can find gigs that fit in with your schedule and match your area of expertise through an app called GigPro.
GigPro App was developed by local chefs Ben Ellsworth, Sean Brock, and several others in the restaurant industry. This app makes it simple for workers to pick up shifts that work with their schedule, as well as allowing employers to fill vacancies swiftly. Creating an account is simple, free, and easy to browse for both job seekers and management. Additionally, the GigPro App offers convenient, on-demand compensation and direct payments.
Just completing a few basic steps can give a job seeker or an employer the opportunity to make a connection. Check out the company website at GigPro.com. Once at the site, click on instructions to learn about downloading the app from your Apple Store or Google Play Store to create an account for free within minutes. Businesses should add details to their profile like restaurant hours, restaurant locations and then start posting gigs right away. If there is a special event in town and your restaurant anticipates the need for extra help, you can start posting gigs right away. Within minutes posted gigs are sent to local qualified talent who have identified themselves as ‘pros’ in certain fields of work. When the job seeker expert or ‘pro’ sees the job and expresses an interest by applying, the business receives an alert. From that point, the business can approve who they would like to work with. The selected ‘pro’ for the gig confirms and both employer and jobseeker are on their way to getting what they both need.
Qualified, talented job seekers or ‘pros’ in certain industries should add details like work experience and hours of availability when creating their free accounts. Once you get access to the board and start browsing gigs, you will see what businesses need extra hands and as a ‘pro’ in this area you will receive an alert when gigs are posted.
If a gig catches your attention, go ahead and apply. Businesses, too, receive an alert when a job seeker applies for the gig. Once the application is approved, the job seeker gets the gig and shows up for the appointed time.
Below are some frequently asked questions about the GigPro App from businesses and job seekers:
How do the pros get paid?
The GigPro App eliminates any need to cut checks or pay cash. The business enters their payment information (Credit Card) via Stripe’s secure website and GigPro App processes charges and pays out the pros for the work at said business.
On the pros side, payments are available after two business days, and payouts of available account balances are made daily. For example, payments received on a Tuesday are paid out by Thursday, and payments received on a Friday are paid out by Tuesday.
What are the fees for businesses or the pros?
Fees are only applied to businesses when they fill a gig. After the gig, a 15% connection fee will be added to the total amount.
For pros, there are no costs for signing up or for keeping an account on the GigPro App. When you complete a gig, a $0.38 per hour fee will be subtracted from your total earnings to pay for Occupational Accident Insurance (OAI).
What if a jobseeker gets hurt on the job?
Occupational Health Insurance (OAI) is insurance that covers occupational-related injuries, death, disability, and dismemberment for individual’s specifically classified as an independent contractor. It protects businesses in case a pro gets hurt on the job when they place a claim through the app.
Will the pros receive a 1099 Form to file their taxes?
If you have made $600 or more, you will receive a 1099 form, which will be sent to the email address you have on file. It should be received no later than January 31. If you have any issues with your email or have not received your form by that date, please reach out to the support team at [email protected] for answers.
