CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston County Public Library and rbDigital teamed up to provide a new digital service for patrons interested in spending their time in quarantine learning to play an instrument. Starting now, ArtistWorks for Libraries is available on the CCPL rbDigital app and website.

Users will get world-class instruction through self-paced video lessons from Grammy Award-winning music and artistic professionals. ArtistWorks for Libraries offers users everything they need for musical and artistic instruction, from introduction to advanced performance.

Students now have access to this kind of instruction, regardless of reductions/eliminations of school music programs and without the high cost of private instruction.

There are three dozen artists' courses available, covering instruments from different types of guitar to vocal lessons and even how to spin and scratch like a DJ. Each artist starts with the basics and presents lessons through dozens of videos to help even the most inexperienced musician hone their skills.

Access to ArtistWorks is free with a CCPL library card. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, CCPL is offering a virtual eCard for people who do not already have a library card. Register for one here

ArtistWorks is the fifth new service on rbDigital that CCPL has launched during the pandemic. In April, the library launched The Great Courses, Learn It Live, Quello Concerts by Stingray, and Method Test Prep
