CHARLESTON, S.C. – Library visitors can now receive personalized book recommendations from Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) literary experts. Through a new online form, the library asks cardholders about their reading preferences, like favorite genre and books or authors they have enjoyed. CCPL staff will use the information as guidance for creating a curated list of recommendations within three to five business days.

“Providing book recommendations is something CCPL staff do regularly within our library branches,” said Chief Deputy Director Darlene Jackson. “This is a great resource for people who are stumped wondering what to read next or want to try something new but aren’t sure where to start.”

With the new online form, patrons receive the same level of expert advice without having to go into a library branch. They can easily place the items on hold from home, or potentially checkout the e-book or audiobook version within minutes of receiving their personalized recommendations.

The Charleston County Public Library already offers a similar service for teen patrons. This new online form focuses on adult fiction and nonfiction recommendations. Any CCPL cardholder can access the form to receive a personalized book list. With the recommendations, readers will receive a link to easily place the items on hold within CCPL’s collection.

Patrons can also still visit or call their library branch to receive book recommendations and guidance.

For more information, visit ccpl.org, contact your local library branch, or connect with the library on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
