CHARLESTON, S.C. - On Friday, April 24, the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (SC DEW) launched their Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program. The Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, or PUA, is a self-service, federally funded program which offers financial aid to individuals who have previously filed for unemployment insurance and were denied. Eligibility requirements as well as video and written instructions can be found on the PUA website.

Additionally, SC DEW has extended their call center hours to better meet the needs of the thousands of South Carolinians financially affected by COVID-19. According to SC Works Trident, beginning April 30, the call center will be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.– 8 p.m. Starting May 2, Saturday hours will be from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. SC DEW call center can be reached at 1-866-831-1724.
