Spotlight on new jobseeker resource: Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Infobase’s Ferguson's Career Guidance Center is now available on the Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) website. Jobseekers can complete a couple easy steps to access this comprehensive life-long learning career exploration and planning resource. Whether you are a student choosing a career path, a jobseeker entering the workforce, or an experienced professional changing careers, Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center provides the tools necessary for you to assess your interests, identify professions, and prepare for your career.
Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center includes the following:
- Career Interest Assessments to identify work interest
- Listing of more than 140 industries and more than 1,000 professions
- Education planning and school search options as well as financial aid databases for undergraduate, graduate, vocational and tech schools in the U.S. and Canada.
- Opportunities to view professional career advice and insight from working professionals across many industries through the ‘My Life’ interviews
The database is organized into three main sections: Industries and Careers, Plan Your Education and Launch Your Career. The career interest assessments rank jobseeker’s interests and suggests occupations and industries.
Additionally, users are also provided with a wealth of resources to assess workplace skills, find apprenticeships and internships. The award-winning reference source provides jobseekers with clean, fast access to core content and up-to-date information. The database features the Browse Professions landing page which highlights the fastest—growing, highest-paying, most in-demand jobs. The All Professions page allows users to narrow professions by industry, education requirements, and relevant job skills.
Be sure to familiarize yourself with this database because our subscription to Gale Presents: Peterson’s Career Prep expired on August 1, 2021.

All that is needed is a CCPL Library Card number and PIN number to access the database freely on library public internet computers or to access remotely.
Once you are on the CCPL website, look for the RESEARCH tab near the top right corner of the main page. Click that tab to access the ‘Featured Databases’ link on the left of the page or choose the ‘Careers & Education’ tab in the center of the page to find Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center.
