CHARLESTON, S.C. - After further evaluation, the Wando Mount Pleasant Library will remain closed through the weekend, with an expected reopening date of Monday, Dec. 14. This is being done out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of patrons and staff. The book drop returns at the branch will also be closed during the closure.

Charleston County Public Library on Tuesday was notified by a staff member of the branch they ahd tested positive for COVID-19. A second staff member tested positive for the virus on Wednesday.

As a result of this closure, the Friends of the Library Holiday Book Sale scheduled for Wando has been canceled.

Charleston County Public Library staff implemented the response plan, per CDC and DHEC guidelines, listed below:

  1. The library will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 9 through Sunday, Dec. 13 to be cleaned and sanitized by a certified third-part contractor. It is expected to reopen on Monday, Dec. 14.
  2. All employees known to have come in contact with this individual are being notified and self-quarantine guidelines are being followed.
  3. The book drop/return at the library will be closed during this time.
  4. Charleston County Government continues to offer PPE and cleaning supplies to CCPL employees for its facilities.
  5. CCPL has been working with DHEC in ensuring all best practices are implemented in our service models that would help reduce the spread of COVID-19 as we continue serving our patrons.
